So Enchanting
Flash Fiction
By Jennifer / Yu Xuekun
Tianjin, May 1, 2005
She was so enchanting, decent in manners,
kind in heart, wealthy in property, and innocently in love with him.
He was so handsome, good-looking but
bad-tempered, with sweet words but improper purpose, loved her slightly but
coveted her wealth intensely.
She trusted him and took so much for granted
that she never doubted his love.
He took her love so much for granted that he
wantonly misused her wealth to ingratiate another girl he loved.
But, no betrayal of trust can be concealed
forever. Everything came out finally.
"It's time to say goodbye," she mumbled, with tears welling in her
eyes.
"Oh, no, darling!" he replied
humbly, "You know it's a misunderstanding."
"The heart had no eyes, but truth
reveals everything." Her voice was trembling.
"But, but..."
"We won't meet again."
Then she started to leave, but he grabbed her
arm.
"You hurt my heart," he sniveled.
"It's not me but your cheating,
you swindler!"
"I beg your forgiveness,
sweetie."
"Impossible!" she answered
with a wry smile.
"Give me one more chance, one
more..."
"No more!"
Then she shook off his hand.
"A
true heart only belongs to true love." With a trembling voice, she
left, her teardrops pouring down her cheeks.

Rip Van Winkle's Dream
By
Vincent / Ma Xiaojun
Tianjin, May 20, 2005
Rip van winkle went to sleep again,
and dreamed. In his dream, he found that he had become
a bear, a polar bear. It was a warm day and he walked outside.
However, when he looked around, he found everything was different
except the thick ice.
In the near distance, he saw a group
of new guys that he had never seen before. They looked so strange,
but very beautiful. He wanted to say "Hello" to those new
guys. Just at that moment, he heard them talking about another guy,
"Edgar." It seemed he was their friend.
Suddenly, he remembered that it was
the little guy that he met the day before. And where was that little
guy? "Oh, my God, I just ate him! I just ate him!" he
repeated to himself. "What shall I do?"
Finally, he thought of a way that he
could pretend that he was that little guy. He put one of the
leftover parts from his meal the day before on his mouth, and walked
to over to the new guys.

A Beautiful Story
Norah / Guo Yun
Tianjin ,May 20, 2005
Rose was the queen in a flower world, romance
given form, dancing in the gentle
breeze. A swirl of petals, a flick of her bud, a shake of her leaves, all
are gone with the wind! I loved her beauty. That is true.
In the morning, I got up and said
"Hello" to her. Then she nodded her beautiful head to me, telling
me how happy was she to see me.
In the evening, I went to talk with her about
my secret.
She listened quietly with a shy smile. When I
told her how much I loved her, Rose stood there, saying nothing, her red
face, redder and shier, smiling, and then, just gave me a vague
answer.
I, unable to do anything, could only wait.

A Bird and the Hill
By Jerry / Wu Hanfei
Tianjin, April 12, 2005
I will never forget that day in
which I was just a pathetic bird whose wings were cut by others. It happened
last summer, specifically speaking, in the summer vacation.
Last summer holidays, I went to
climb the hill in my hometown every morning in the hope of reducing my
weight as much as possible. Since I live a little far from the hill,
everyday I had to ride my bicycle to arrive at the foot of the hill, then
climb it.
That day I got up early and rode
my bike to the destination as usual. My friends and I climbed up the hill
together, talking and laughing. Then, we climbed down the hill. To my
surprise, I couldn't find my bike where I put it.
Soon I realized I had had my
bike stolen. My friends comforted me and helped me look for it. But our
efforts proved in vain. I was very angry.
Since that day, without my
bicycle, I haven't been able to climb the hill, and my friends haven't
climbed it, either.
That day, I was blamed by my
parents. What a pathetic bird!

What a Clever Idea
By Cynthia / Guan Xin
Tianjin, April18, 2005
A good idea is water in the desert. Tim is a
third-grade pupil. Today he failed in the exams. When he got his report he
was deeply worried. The report should be signed by his father in order that
his father would know his poor work at school.
On the way home, an idea appeared in Tim's
mind. When he got home his father was reading a newspaper. Tim said to his
father jokingly," Dad, can you write your name with your name with your
eyes shut? " His father replied, "Well, I can try, son!"
As his father shut his eyes Tim put the
report on the table. "OK!" His father wrote his name on a piece of
paper.
So Tim was very satisfied with the report
already signed by his father.

Adventures with Our Donkey
By Ather / Fu Shunjie
Tianjin, April 12, 2005
I had so many complaints about
the lock of our dormitory, because it was broken. What's more, it was so
damaged that the key did not work in it.
Last night I came back to the
dormitory and found my roommates in our neighbor's room. It seemed a little
strange. So I asked one of them: "Why are you all here?"
"We can not get into the
dormitory," he answered.
"Yes, but why?"
"Ask that damn lock."
After I tried to unlock the lock
with my key I failed. But the problem had to be solved. We could not stay in
our neighbor's room for the whole night. So we four, my three dear roommates
and I, tried to open it time after time but failed. Finally, it was one of
our neighbors who opened it.
When we went in, I shut the door
as usual. But something worse was coming. Now we could not unlock the door
from the inside.
The lock was a donkey: We are
his masters, but sometimes he is stubborn and does not obey our orders. So
we punished him.
We called another neighbor and
asked him to kick in the door. After a loud crash we were saved.

About Pets
By Fairy / Yu Lingzhou
Tianjin, April 12, 2005
I like pets, so I raise many
pets in my house, a dog, a cat, some birds and a bowl of goldfish. They give
me much happiness.
On day, my sister and her son
came to my house. We had a fine day. But the boy, my sister's son, is very
mischievous.
I don't know how to tell the
boy, my nephew, to behave, and so, many times, the little boy tried to catch
the goldfish which were in the fish bowl. In his opinion, they were just
interesting playthings in his game to catch them in his hands.
"I like them and I like
everything that lives in water," Joy, the little boy, told us
conscientiously.

Vicissitudes of Life,
Steadiness of Spirit
Review of The
Old Man and The Sea
By
Berylwade / Chen Yanping
The Old Man and the Sea may very
well be recognized as one of the true classics. The qualities of Ernest
Hemingway's short novel are those which we associate with the great
stories of the past: near perfection of form within the limitations of its
subject matter, restraint of treatment, regard for the unities of time and
place, and evocative simplicity of style. With no exception, the story of
The Old Man And The Sea is an exciting but tragic adventure story.
Sustained by the pride of his calling, the
only pride he has left, token of his poor fisherman venture, which urged
him to pursue the biggest marlin far out in the Gulf Stream, the old man
persevered. However, the old man, alone and exhausted from his struggle to
harpoon the marlin, and then to keep his catch in a battle with marauding
sharks, regrettably, is left with only the marlin’s skeleton.
Astonishing is the unconquerable spirit of
the old man, who is capable of snatching spiritual victory from disaster
and material defeat.
The theme of the story, in my opinion lies
in its demonstration of the powerful human spirit in the face of the
vicissitudes of life. No matter how taut the circumstances become, we
should believe in ourselves. It is the spark of spirit that makes human
beings immortal.

DEPARTURE
(A Story from Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio)
The
following story, "Departure," is the last of twenty-one stories
in the book, Winesburg, Ohio, Sherwood Anderson's classic work of American
fiction. Anderson's work is a fascinating sketch of small-town people in
traditional US society, the adventures in how they lived and tried to live
their lives, and how their failures and successes made a curious mix of
tragedy and humor. "Departure" is not the most dramatic of the
Winesburg, Ohio stories-you will find other of the stories more startling
or exciting. But because this story tells of George Willard, the young
news reporter in Winesburg to whom nearly everyone told their stories, it
might serve as both an introduction and an encouragement for you to read
the others. -TJCJ Editor.
YOUNG GEORGE WILLARD got out of bed at four
in the morning. It was April and the young tree leaves were just coming
out of their buds. The trees along the residence streets in Winesburg are
maple and the seeds are winged. When the wind blows they whirl crazily
about, filling the air and making a carpet underfoot.
George came downstairs into the hotel
office carrying a brown leather bag. His trunk was packed for departure.
Since two o'clock he had been awake thinking of the journey he was about
to take and wondering what he would find at the end of his journey. The
boy who slept in the hotel office lay on a cot by the door. His mouth was
open and he snored lustily. George crept past the cot and went out into
the silent deserted main street. The east was pink with the dawn and long
streaks of light climbed into the sky where a few stars still shone.

The Road Taken
By
Harry / Zhou Jianzhi
Tianjin, April 1, 2005
I remember the exact point in time during
my first college summer vacation when I made the decision that set me on
the road to pursuing a Juris Master degree. A summer vacation signals the
ending of a term and the coming of a new one. It also brings with it the
impending pressure to pay tuition again.
That summer I missed my parents very much
and felt a strong need to take the first train home to see them. After
arriving home, I sensed that behind their happy expression was a hidden
melancholy. They had to be heavy-hearted, because 5000RMB is difficult for
two debt-ridden farmers to pay. The grief they tried to hide made me
realize that I was not a little boy any more, and I should do something to
relieve my parents of this heavy burden. They were already more than 60
years old, and they deserved to be happy for the rest of their lives, not
burdened by my debt.
One night I passed my parents' room and
heard their sadness when they condemned themselves for their limited
ability. For the first time I cried my eyes out the whole night, and then
I became determined to make my parents proud.

A Comparison of Two Restaurants
By
Thing / Yang Jingjing
Tianjin, May 20, 2005
There is a market near our
school. Every time I pass by, I stand there for a while to feel
the strong contrast. On the road to the south is the Youqiang
Restaurant, renowned for its traditional food, while standing
just opposite to it is the worldwide chain restaurant,
McDonald's. Except for the fact that they both attract a great
number of customers, they're so different in many ways.
Youqiang Restaurant is, of
course, in a typical traditional style. Hanging above the
exquisitely-carved wooden door is the huge gilded trademark.
While McDonald's, with a smaller space, emphasizes the essence
of modern life, glass doors and windows, and the big
"M" in bright yellow color.
And the food ,of course, is of
two concepts. The Youqiang Restaurant is famous for its snacks,
such as dumplings and noodles. In the atmosphere of its slow
rhythm of Chinese folk music, people enjoy their meals. Many
young people are fond of McDonald's. They come to have their
favorite set meal for convenience, or just simply buy a
hamburger and take it away.
When listening to fast music,
people eat at a faster pace than the people in the Youqiang
Reastaurant do. The Youqiang is a symbol of Tianjin's
traditional eating culture, while McDonald's is a foreign
pioneer, developing China's market. The Youqiang Restaurant
shows a slow and carefree way to live, while McDonald's
represents the modern style of life--fast, efficient and full of
pressure.
Two different cultures can stay
together harmoniously at the same time, in the same city. I
think this shows that we are easily attracted by new things, but
we still need something old to remind us of our history.

Arminius
and Tolerance
By Berylwade / Chen Yanping
Tianjin, May 30, 2005
The struggle for tolerance is
part of the long-term conflict between human beings, most of
whom believe that the power of the individual is far more
significant than that of the masses.
Fortunately, the Dutch Republic
during the latter half of the sixteenth century witnessed the
appearance of a giant, living in an uneasy society following in
the wake of the Reformation, who insisted on the freedom of the
will.
He was Arminius and his hometown
was Oudewater, a little city not far from the cloister Steyn. In
the year 1603 he was called back to Leiden as a full fledged
professor of theology.
Both by nature and education,
Arminius was an Infralasarian, who believed that man is to a
certain extent possessed of a free will and able to shape his
own destiny. His colleague, Gomarus, was a Supralapsarian, who
held that everything in our lives has been pre-ordained ages
before we were born and that our fate, therefore, depends on a
throw of the divine dice at the hour of creation.
In the field of politics, the
Supralapsarians won at the polls. Consequently, Arminius, the
poor man, died under the torrent of abuse that was let loose
upon him by his former friends.
This evidence bolsters the
argument that the precursor of new thought is a solitary figure,
and the majority will not accept his ideas. What a toll this is
to the development of human beings.

Finally, A Trip to Mount Tai
By
Ella / Shi Ting
Tianjin, May 20, 2005
I like nature, such as the sun, trees, the
mountains and so on. So, from a long time ago, I have expected to take a
trip. Now, this is a chance that belongs to me.
After several days, we will have a long
vacation. I am going to Mount Tai. I have never been to Mount Tai. I knew
about it from some magazines or from my friends who had been to Mount Tai.
It is one of China's most beautiful mountains. There are many scenic spots
and places of historical interest. Its natural beauty absorbs me.
From there, I can breath fresh air, and I
can relax myself. Moreover, I can conquer nature. I can show to myself and
to the world that I am a powerful woman.

The Beatles
By
Ally / Gao Yan
Tianjin, May 20, 2005
"We're living in the yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine. . . ." "Yesterday, all my
troubles seem so far away. Love isn't an easy game to play. . . ."
I'm sure you're quite familiar with these songs.
The Beatles, introduced from England in
1964, burst into popularity with innovative rock music that appealed to
all ages. One of their fans recalled, "I've never seen kids fainting
like that at a concert; I've never heard screams like that . . . I knew
that there was a problem when they just landed." The band was a
miracle in their era. They were still popular all around the world even
after disbanding.
I heard their music just by chance. I was
soon indulged in the unique melody. I listened to their songs not only for
entertainment but I also found that it's a effective way to learn English.
The words of the songs were beautifully written.
As people who like English and music, why
don't you come on, enjoying this combination of pleasures.

Movies |
Tom Hanks
By
Anita / Fan Qing
Tianjin, May 30, 2005
My favorite hobby is watching movies,
especially American films. I am known in our class as a movie fan. I know
about a lot of films and movie stars. However, Tom Hanks is one I most
appreciate.
Tom hanks is a great actor. And he is the
youngest AFI Award Winner. In two decades, Hanks has progressed from the
cross-dressing sitcom "Bosom Buddies" to back-to-back Oscar
performances in 1993's "Philadelphia" and 1994's "Forrest
Gump." He has a host of movie blockbusters and has positioned himself
as one of the most popular actors in films. Hanks also has supported the
fight against AIDS and the achievements of World War II soldiers.
When he is playing a role, I am always
confused whether he is Tom Hanks or the character he plays. I am waiting
for his next movie.

Evelyn
By Anita / Fan Qing
Tianjin, May 30, 2005
"Evelyn" tells a story that
happened in Scotland. The story concerns an unfair state act on the
treatment of single-parent children.
The hero of the movie was a responsible,
intrepid father who deeply loved his three children, but had to be
separated from them according to the Scotland act at that time. Finally,
with great courage and efforts, the brave father with his lovely daughter
rewrote the act, and the history of Scotland.
The plot, moving me most, was the pure and
innocent facial expression of the man's only daughter, who was the elder
sister of the other two boys, and her constant belief in the "Angel
Rays," which she learned about from her grandfather, so as to raise
her courage.
I don't know why the Scotch government had
constituted such a cruel act and had carried it out for such a long time.
When I saw the children had to leave home for a completely strange place
to live without their parents-even the single parent, I could understand
their unwillingness.
Besides, I couldn't bear the self-centered
mother. As a Scot, she must have known the result of her leaving. As a
mother, she was supposed to consider more for her children than herself.
Luckily, the movie had a happy ending. Poor children returned to their
homes, which was really the biggest happiness.
I was really impressed and I appreciated
the "Angel Rays" very much. They enlightened people's hope,
raised people's courage, and enriched people's faith.

Laugh in English!
Where? Where?
There was a translator whose English was
not very good. One day he accompanied a foreigner on a tour to the Great
Wall.
At the Great Wall, the foreigner saw a very
beautiful Chinese woman. He said to her, “I’m charmed.” The
translator translated what the foreigner said to the young woman. When she
heard this, the young woman was very embarrassed and said, “Nali, nali.”
The translator told the foreigner, “She
said, ‘Where? Where?’” So the foreigner looked at the young woman
from head to toe and said, “Everywhere, everywhere.” When the
translator told her, “Ni nar dou piaoliang, nar dou piaoliang,” the
young woman was even more embarrassed.

Art
Lesson

A primary school teacher was teaching painting
to her students. Little Mary painted a house, little Johnny painted a
flower, and little Betty painted a cat. But little Henry gave the teacher
a blank sheet of paper.
The teacher, pointing to the blank sheet,
asked little Henry, "Henry, why haven't you painted a picture? Why
are you giving me a blank sheet of paper?"
"Teacher, I did paint a picture. I
painted a cow eating grass," said little Henry.
"A cow eating grass? Where is the
grass you painted, Henry?" asked the teacher.
"The grass has all been eaten by the
cow," little Henry answered.
"Then, where is the cow?" the
teacher asked.
Little Henry quickly answered the teacher,
"The cow has gone to another place to find grass to eat."

The baseball coach had heard that the best
player on the school team, Frankie Chan, was expelled from school. So the
coach was very angry. He went to the dean's office to ask why Frankie was
expelled.
The dean told the coach that Frankie was expelled because he cheated on
the exam. The dean brought out two exam papers and said to the coach,
"You can see, there was a total of five questions. And four of
Frankie's answers were exactly the same as the student sitting next to
him.
The coach said, "Dean, how do you know
Frankie didn't give his own answer to these questions? I mean, only four
of his answers are the same as the other student's answers.
The dean pointed to the fifth answer and
said to the coach, "You're right, the fifth answer is different. Read
it for yourself!"
Frankie's classmate's answer was, "I
don't know the answer."
Frankie's answer was, "I
also don't know the answer."

Computer Games And Me
By
Maria / Wang Xiuling
Tianjin, May 20, 2005
Thanks for the computer games, the illusion
what is as pure as a child's heart. The computer games are a part of my
life. The games have been an important experience in my growing. I spent a
lot of time in the games and gained more interests from that experience.
We know that everything must have an end.
The game has an end, too. As long as you love it, it is worthy for you to
play at any lost. The real player dares to face life in the game.
I first played computer games when I was
thirteen. The first computer game that I ever played was "Red
Alarming." At that time, I didn't know the skillful way to play and
only knew to rush at the enemies. Fortunately, I finally got across the
toll-gate. But back then, I had no purposes in playing games, only in
hasty aggressiveness.
The computer game is only a kind of game
and is detested deeply by my parents. My father would be very angry as
long as I sat before the computer. I didn't watch TV, and only played
games at that time. The games were very playful and filled with surprises.
Playing the games even changed my life.
What is life? It is just the process of
living. Whatever the end will be, what we should do is do only what we
think. The most important thing is the process.
All of the above are my feelings about
computer games.

I'm a Junior Now
By Cynthia / Guan Xin
Tianjin, November 15, 2004
I'm a junior now. So I
think college life is more and more taxing, because we should take
the TME8 at the end of college life. For us who aspire to conquer
the summit of knowledge, we have to work hard. We have to take
required and optional courses and go through different types of
quizzes, tests and exams.
Meanwhile, I think
college life is interesting and inviting. To us, these past two
years, college is looked upon as a book of romance in which we may
turn to the page that offers the strongest appeal to our fancy. At
our leisure, we may give a ball, hold a tea party, a sports
meeting, or go to a movie. We can enjoy ourselves in many
ways.
College life is
extremely important in my life. Through a few years' studies, we
acquire adequate knowledge and experience from our professors. Our
attendance at various academic lectures, our activities in clubs
or other social organizations and exchange of ideas with other
students-all these open up a new vista, speed our ability to work
independently and help us to intellectual maturity. College life
will, therefore, pave the way for our successful career.

The Importance of Self-confidence
By
Véronique / Qi Yi’an
Tianjin, November 15, 2004
Self-confidence
is an attitude that is rooted in our hearts and that is
shown through our appearance. It is a significant attitude
that should be advocated among youngsters.
For
one thing, self-confidence gives us a power to believe in
ourselves to achieve great success. It provides us a long
and enduring ideal to carry out our dreams. It binds us
together, heading for the destination we are pursuing.
Moreover, it relieves our frustrations when we are down in
failure. Self-confidence is a magical power that pushes us
on and on to success.
For
another, self-confidence changes our appearance. Those who
are attractive and charming must be self-confident. A
self-confident attitude gives us the strength to face the
difficulties that we face daily. Smiling at every problem
and talking every trouble one by one, a confident man is
always energetic and vigorous. And he surely can achieve
great success, because a charming person with a vivid
appearance catches our appreciation easily.
In
a word, self-confidence is an important attitude that is
worth treasuring, because winning is not everything, but a
winning attitude is.

My Secret
Tianjin, November 15, 2004
By Diana / He Ningning
Yesterday, in our advanced English
lesson, it was my turn to do a presentation. The Teacher asked us
to preview the texts and make a report to the class.
The day before yesterday, I had
spent a whole afternoon to prepare for it. I knew I had prepared
enough and would make a not bad report. But, yesterday morning,
when the class started, I felt too nervous. I extremely hate that
feeling, so that my heart bobbed up and down. During that waiting,
I tried my best to calm myself with thinking other tings which
could make me feel relaxed. However I failed to do that.
When t stood in the front of the
class, I felt my face got hot, though that only last tenths of a
second. I hope to start being able to face people with no shyness
or tenseness at all.

The Main Difference Between My
College Life and My Middle School Life
By Sheryl / Liu Zhiping
Tianjin,
November 15, 2004
As the days go by, I have moved
from being a middle school student to being a self-supporting
college student. I felt within my heart the changes between these
two different times. From my point of view, the main difference
between my college life and my middle school life lies in the fact
that we get more time to teach ourselves instead of being taught
by teachers face to face-to-face.
In my middle school, the classes
were scheduled tightly and we had little time to study by
ourselves. All we could do was to follow the teacher. In order to
make us understand more easily, the teacher broke the big blocks
of knowledge into small pieces. But. to some degree, this limited
our ability to learn by ourselves.
In contrast, in college we have
more time to ourselves. We have begun to study knowledge without
much of the teacher's help. Gradually, we have formed the habit of
self-study.
In brief, compared to the middle
school life, college life provides us more and more time to study
by ourselves, which, I think, is the main difference between my
college life and my middle school life.

Is Failure A Bad Thing?
By Ada / Liu Qing

Failure is quite a common
thing in our life. As long as we do things, we will surely
encounter difficulties. Of course we should try our best
to get over them, but in many cases, it is not so easy, or
even possible. Then how should we face failure?
Different people take
different attitudes towards failure. When faced with
failure, some people become frustrated and lose their
confidence. They refuse to make any further efforts. Some
people just do not fear failure. They firmly believe that
failure is the mother of success. As a result, not only
does failure not stop them, but they draw useful lessons
from it and try even harder.
As for me, I do not think
failure is a bad thing. Failure can never discourage me,
but only help enrich my experience and steel my will. With
this positive attitude in mind, I will try hard in
anything I am determined to accomplish and attain success
in the end.

Job Search

The Application Letter
One very important part of the job search is the letter you
write to an employer asking for a job. See the good example that
follows.

How To Find A
Job
By Alicia / Shen Yamei
Tianjin, November 15, 2004
Today, more and more graduates have
realized that it's difficult for them to find a job because of the
heavy social competition. If you're finding it tough to land a
job, you'd better make a plan for your job-hunting.
First, set your target. You should
be sure of what you want. Therefore it can make your job-hunting
more efficient rather than hap hazardous.
Second, schedule more interviews
through answering ads in newspapers, using search firms,
contacting companies directly or by surfing the web, etc.
Third, encourage yourself. Even if
an employer doesn't hire you, write them a Thank-you note for that
interview, and then find another one.
Looking for a job is one of the
toughest things you'll ever do. Maintain your spirits, confidence,
and persistence, and think positively. In the end, you will be
successful.

Unconditional
Love
By Alicia / Shen Yamei
Tianjin, May 23, 2005
My mother was a worker in a company. Every
morning she got up early enough that she could cook breakfast for me. In
my home, I was a princess. My parents, especially my mother, did every
thing for me.
My mother didn't have much trouble with me,
but I did often speak some words that hurt her feelings. However, she
still loved me. Sometimes I was capricious and self-willed. If she didn't
agree with me, I would get angry with her or even shout at her.
One day, when I was a little child, I liked
a little dog very much, and I wanted to buy one. But at that time, our
house wasn't big enough. Of course, I didn't follow my mother's words and
still persist in my idea. As a result, she disagreed with me to the end. I
got angry with her and shouted at her.
In fact, later, I was regretful about what
I had done. Therefore, I tried to say something to her indicating that I
was wrong. To my surprise, she didn't care about anything and still smiled
at me, amiable and benign. I think, this was the unconditional love she
gave me.
Unconditional love is the most precious
gift we can give. Being forgiven for the past is the most precious gift we
can receive.

Relationships |

An Embarrassing Stage

By Norah / Guo Yun
Tianjin, May 20, 2005
Look at the triangle of the relationships
between boys and girls. The "love" relationship is obviously at
the peak of the triangle. The bottom relationship, which can be the
simplest one between boys and girls, is "acquaintance"
relationship-they know each other, but just so so.
Then, someone may ask, "What is the
"embarrassing relationship?" Well, I give it that name because,
in my opinion, it is a strange relationship between boys and girls.
In this relationship, a boy and a girl
attract each other very well, know each other very well, like each other
very much, but they deny it is love. They say it is
"friendship." But I do not think there is real friendship
between boys and girls. They cannot be lovers only because their
attraction is not strong enough to reach the peak of love. So I call it
the "embarrassing relationship."
Persons at this stage act a very important
role. These "good friends," as people call them, can understand
each other, and they know the friend's happiness and sorrow. When the
friend needs help, the first person to come in the first time of need is
the "good friend."
This kind of person can be the lover
someday, but not now. So these young people are in this
"embarrassing" stage, and they enjoy it very much.
